President Tiziana Lippiello and International Affairs Director Mauro Cannone from the University of Venice, Italy, visited our college on the morning of April 28th for collaboration talks. CFLC's Dean Chen Jing, Vice Dean Liu Yue, Associate Director of the English Department Lin Bin, Italian language instructor Xu Yingying, and Italian postdoctoral fellow Lena Ludovica were among those present.

Dean Chen Jing warmly welcomed President Lippiello's delegation, highlighting the longstanding communication between Xiamen University and the University of Venice that facilitated this visit. She expressed anticipation for the upcoming memorandum of cooperation and supplementary agreements between the two institutions. President Lippiello, impressed by Xiamen University's blend of mountains and sea, shared insights into the University of Venice's history, courses, and collaborations with Chinese universities, expressing hope for a strong connection with CFLC as the first Italian partner institution. She, as an experienced sinologist, emphasized the significance of maritime Silk Road connections between the two universities, starting from the tales of Marco Polo.
The participants discussed possibilities for deeper cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, research collaborations, dual-degree programs, and professional development, adding momentum to strategic cooperation between the two universities.
President Lippiello also participated in CFLC's fifth high-level academic forum, delivering a keynote speech on "Venice and the Orient: A History of Trade and Cultural Exchange," exploring how to embrace new knowledge challenges while preserving cultural uniqueness through intercultural dialogues.
This visit marks a bilateral journey between CFLC and the University of Venice, laying the groundwork for strengthened collaboration across various fields to facilitate mutual cultural exchange and understanding.
