      ACD35ACD35

The 7th China-Europe Research Platform on Chinese Migration to and Beyond Europe (CERPE) invites scholars and researchers to submit papers for consideration in our upcoming workshop. The workshop will focus on the resumption of migration between Europe and China post-COVID-19 pandemic, examining the evolving landscape shaped by subsequent political and economic events. In this new era, the dynamics of migration from China to Europe related to transnationalism and transculturality have been significantly influenced, presenting novel challenges and opportunities for Chinese migrants in Europe. The workshop seeks to explore the emergence of new features in this migration phenomenon and unravel the underlying dynamics.

Key questions to be addressed include

What distinctive features characterize the current wave of Chinese migration to Europe?

How do political and economic events in Europe and globally impact and reshape migration patterns?

What challenges and opportunities arise for the transnational and transcultural identities of Chinese migrants in Europe?

What novel dynamics drive this migration wave and how do they differ from previous patterns?

We welcome scholarly contributions that delve into these questions, offering theoretical insights, empirical analyses, and interdisciplinary perspectives. Submissions should contribute to advancing our understanding of Chinese migrations in Europe amidst the transformative forces of the present era.

The workshop aims to facilitate intellectual exchange and dialogue among scholars specializing in Chinese migration studies to Europe. Additionally, it seeks to bridge connections between the CERPE network and broader migration research communities, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge-sharing.
